Personal Testimonies

“My life is a miracle”

I came to see that when you start pursuing virtue, a man is no longer a reward. Why would I want to be cuddled by a man when I am feeling brave and strong myself? Now, instead of framing my life as an inconsolable loss (which is where I used to be as a “gay” man), I think its time to reframe my life in that my life is a miracle.

“Now I’m totally open to it, to be married to a man!”

All through high school, I didn’t know if it could be possible. Today I know that the Lord has not stolen this vocation from me! I don’t know if I marry, but now I’m totally open to it, to be married to a man!

“Life got so much better”

Anna’s journey includes navigating both the experience of same-sex attractions, as well as becoming involved in a romantic relationship with a woman. While knowing about Jesus, it was an encounter with Him that led her to commit to Him, and to begin pursuing a heart of chastity. While temptations to stray from that objective emerged from time to time, her commitment to the Lord is what brought her to understand that she had sold herself short with regard to the possibilities of God within her life. As she continued to grow, she became more aware of romantic attractions to men and became open to the idea that behind a wife and a mother was something that God could have in store for her. The Lord had placed an important Catholic man in her life along her journey, and over time, she came to love him and recognize that he might be the man she would marry. They eventually got married, and now walk to the Lord together as a couple joyfully striving for chastity together. They are excitedly expecting their first child together. She is grateful that the Lord opened her heart to the idea of potentially becoming a wife and mother, for these were perceived as impossibilities prior. Today, while she recognizes that marriage is not the end goal (because Christ is the end goal), she hopes to bring the good news of God’s possibilities of holy, chaste marriage to all who are open to hear.
